Aloha Chicago – Summer In The Windy City

With 18 new Poke Bros. locations in the greater Chicago area, we figured it was only right to make a guide for how to bring the Aloha spirit to the windy city. As many know, there’s nothing quite like summer in Chicago. All season long, you can play beach volleyball on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan, kayak through a skyscraper canyon, sip cocktails from rooftop bars with skyline views — the list goes on and on. Here’s your guide to making the most out of summer in Chicago whether you venture downtown or chill out in the suburbs!

Hit The Beach

The obvious answer is to hit the beach and Chicago is full of them. Grab a poké bowl and head to Centennial Beach in Naperville. Centennial Beach is a man-made swimming hole for locals and visitors. It’s a mix between a lake, a beach and a pool: this is zero-entry up to 15 feet, there’s sand, diving boards and a slide. If you’re looking for a swimming spot with skyline views, head to Ohio Street Beach and dig into a fresh, Hawaiian bowl!

Rent a Boat

Spending a day on a boat is the best way to enjoy summer. Whether you’re in the suburbs or downtown, boat rentals are readily available! Grab a fresh poké bowl and check out the numerous lakes up north or head downtown to Lake Michigan!

Have a Picnic

The sun is out, you’ve gathered a group of friends in the park, you’re all looking forward to diving into a delicious al fresco lunch. Why not ditch traditional picnic faves and order a nourishing bowl of poké, freshly made for you! Our poké bowls are super fresh, satisfying and healthy. Some of our favorite suburban parks include Bison’s Bluff in Schaumburg and Riverwalk Park in Naperville.

Go For a Bike Ride

Hopping on your bike and going for a ride is a great way to unwind in the summer, but riding through the streets of Chicago can often feel less than relaxing. Luckily, a variety of bike trails in and around Chicago offer opportunities to go for a long ride without having to dodge cars. We suggest Deer Grove Forest Preserve Trails in Palatine. Bike riders can enjoy over 100 miles of paved trails and over 200 miles of unpaved trails. To refuel after your ride, we recommend a healthy and balanced bowl of poké!

Whether you’ve lived in Chicago for years or just in town for a few days, spend your summer days the right way by getting outside and refueling with healthy, delicious food!
